Untangld offers 10 scholarships to Strategy Finishing School to help talents scale their careers

Untangld, an international strategy studio, is offering 10 scholarships to Julian Cole’s Strategy Finishing School.

The announcement:

Untangld, an international strategy studio created to deliver world-class, evidence-led thinking for ambitious businesses, has announced that it is offering 10 scholarships to Julian Cole’s Strategy Finishing School to help emergent talent scale their careers with access to world-class tools and people. The scholarships will be open to full-time employees of independent agencies and businesses, with a cohort set aside for members of global independent network, by The Network.

The Strategy Finishing School is an online platform with over 3,500 members from leading brands and agencies including Google, Netflix, New York Times and Facebook. It is designed for people who have never been formally taught strategy but find themselves in a role where strategy is in their title. It offers over 80 lessons that are updated monthly and a thriving online community and is ideal for strategists who want to fast-track their careers.

For innovative businesses and marketing agencies wanting to build brands, experiences and products – accessing critical thinking has never been more important. Upskilling staff to become strategic thinkers, however, often requires significant investment. Untangld, which prides itself on being a full-service strategy consultancy, wants to level the playing field by offering full-time employees of independent agencies with less than five years of industry experience the opportunity to hone their strategic skills and scale their careers. It doesn’t matter if they’re in research, PR, client side, agency side, or sit in the creative or strategy department, Untangld wants to hear from them.

Julian Cole, Strategy Principal at Strategy Finishing School, who has held leadership roles at global advertising agencies including BBDO Worldwide and Bartle Bogle Hegarty, said, “Untangld are sharp strategic thinkers – so it’s apt that they’re investing in the future of the industry and ensuring companies and professionals can upskill and invest in critical thinking. We’re hugely appreciative of their support, championing the value of our school, and their unrelenting ambition to fuel the creative industry with thinkers who can shift paradigms and challenge the status quo”.

“For too long strategy has been the realm of management consultants and people with 30 plus years experience,” said Danish Chan, Co-Founder & Strategy Director at Untlangld. “There’s an abundance of truly talented thinkers in agencies and businesses around the world who just don’t have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of great strategy. We think we can start to change that.”

The initiative from Untangld comes at a time when the creative industry is experiencing significant talent shortages. IAB Australia 2022 Industry Talent Report revealed that job vacancy rates reached 11.8% in August this year, an increase of 2% points higher than in September 2021 when the market was already suffering a severe talent shortage.

“Australia, like many markets, is facing a talent crisis. Upskilling existing professionals is crucial to future-proofing the industry and we’re hoping to play a small part through this initiative,” said Danish.

To enter, applicants must submit a five-word response to the question, ‘What is the common thread between Genghis Khan, Dave Chapelle and Beyonce?’. The closing date for applications is November 1, 2022. Entries can be submitted here.
