Val Morgan Outdoor’s gym network will be operating again by 15 June

Val Morgan Outdoor (VMO) has promised that its network of screens in gyms and active spaces will be back up and running by 15 June. Gyms have been closed during the COVID-19 lockdowns, but restrictions are easing and VMO says people are keen to begin a return to normality.

The outdoor business has a network of more than 4,000 screens in 770 Active spaces around the country.

According to research conducted by Fitness & Lifestyle Group, three in four gym-goers have plans to return to their branch within the first week of opening. VMO managing director Paul Butler also said he expects numbers to bounce back quickly.

“The health club environment clearly delivers many physical, social and mental health benefits and the closure of these venues has really proven how much we value the experience of working out together,” Butler said.

“While we will update the market as we receive insights on audience traffic and engagement through our proprietary audience measurement tool, DART, we anticipate numbers will return quickly to pre-lockdown levels as more Australians return to their local fitness venue and further restrictions are lifted over the coming weeks.”

In a bid to encourage advertisers back into the spaces, VMO will be meeting in the coming weeks with agencies to deliver a limited number of tailored launch packages.

During the lockdowns, VMO partnered with Fitness First and Fan+ on an online version of its Active Nation program, allowing media industry employees to partake in two 30-minute fitness sessions per week.

“We are pleased we were able to stay engaged with the media industry through our Active Nation program while gyms and health clubs were shut and are very much looking forward to welcoming them back into venues for group workouts soon,” Butler said.
