Vanessa Nicol becomes managing director of CHE Proximity Sydney

Clemenger Group’s full service marketing agency CHE Proximity has recruited Vanessa Nicol as its Sydney managing director.

Nicol joins CHE Proximity from New Zealand where she was a managing partner at Clemenger Group for nearly three years.

Nicol joins the agency as CHE Proximity MD

Before joining CHE Proximity, Nicol was the head of Telstra at Omnicom-owned media agency OMD for two years.

Nicol has also held positions at M&C Saatchi, Virgin Mobile and Optus.

In her new role Nicol will be responsible for overseeing CHE Proximity’s Telstra relationship, which spans Sydney and Melbourne.

Nicol will become a member of the agency’s leadership team.

Chris Howatson, CEO at CHE Proximity, said in a statement: “Vanessa is intelligent, charismatic and full of energy. She brings a balanced perspective thanks to her creative, media and client side experience, making her a perfect leader at CHEP, as we transform more business with our connected creativity offer.”

Nicol said it is a privilege to be joining the agency and its culture and growth.

“I look forward to partnering closely with clients, solving business challenges our lens of connected creativity.”

Nicole is replacing David Halter as managing director after Halter was promoted to national chief strategy officer in September last year.

Ant White, chief creative officer, said: “Vanessa’s reputation for understanding the value of ideas in solving real client problems is well recognised. The conversations we are already having promises a great year ahead.”
