Verizon adds India and SE Asia to Paul Sigaloff’s remit

Verizon Media is continuing its integration of its India and Southeast Asia operations with Australia and New Zealand, three years after the region was rebranded from Oath to Verizon.

The latest move sees Verizon Media ANZ managing director, Paul Sigaloff, taking on the two regions in addition to his exisiting remit.

Effective 1 April, Sigaloff will become Vice President of ANZ INSEA. He will continue to be based in Sydney and sit on the boards of UnLtd and IAB Australia.

Sigaloff’s promotion comes after a year of significant growth for Verizon Media in Australia and New Zealand. In 2020 Monthly Active Users (MAUs) across  Verizon’s Yahoo editorial brands grew 11%, with double digit business growth, according to the outlet. However, the outlet does not sit in the top ten digital news brands in Australia, according to Nielsen data.

Verizon Media also recently expanded the remit of senior director of content, Simon Wheeler, to include India and across Southeast Asia, in addition to Australia.

Verizon Media, vice president international sales, Kristiana Carlet, commented: “This appointment is recognition of the great work and explosive growth coming out of the ANZ markets, which has been led and overseen by Paul. In the past two years the business has developed apace and created a blueprint for success we are keen to emulate.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how Paul transfers his learnings and supercharges our success across the wider region.”

Sigaloff, who has been in various roles within the business since 2014, said: “I’m looking forward to working even more closely with our talented teams in India and South East Asia to build on the strong foundations in these businesses. My priority is to take the time to learn from the successful initiatives in those markets and take a strategic approach to apply the most appropriate lessons from our ANZ success story to propel our evolution across the region.

Editorial initiatives launched in the last 12 months include Yahoo Sport’s Mind Games, an interview series on the mental health journeys of elite athletes; Yahoo Finance’s partnership with Thrive Global APAC continuing the mission to beat burnout and improve financial wellbeing; and Yahoo News’ partnership with Lifeline Australia, ‘What’s Up’, to share the mental health stories of everyday Australians.
