Vice’s online video content moves to TV
Programming created for Vice magazine’s online video portal VBS TV is now being seen by Australian television audiences after the company signed a deal with subscription TV channel Fuel TV.
The agreement covers three VBS shows: Epicly Later’d, Hi Shredability and Shot By Kern.
VBS launched two years ago. It contains a mixture of pop culture, documentary content and music.
The Fuel TV deal is the first syndication arrangement in Australia, with talks currently being held with other major broadcasters.
Epicly Later’d is a skateboarding show which won the 2009 Webby award for most popular online sports film or video.
Hi Shredability covers surfing culture.
And Shot by Kern is the most popular show on VBS. It follows filmmaker and photographer Richard Kern.
The deal is just the latest example of the growing importance of online video content. As Mumbrella reported on Monday, video content is racing up the agenda.
