Victoria gives the ABC a Saturday night ratings boost

The ABC’s historical drama, Victoria, was the standout TV show on Saturday night attracting 668,000 viewers across the five metro markets, easily beating movie offerings on Nine and Seven as the most watched non-news programs.

For the evening, the Seven and ABC news programs won the night with audiences of 735,000 and 668,000 respectively. Frozen on Seven edged out Nine’s Minions as the most watched commercial TV entertainment programs for the night with 380,000 to 378,000.

Weekend Sunrise, which this week announced host Andrew O’Keefe will be leaving attracted 287,000 viewers.

Ten’s Women’s Big Bash League evening session rounded out the day’s top ten programs with a metro audience of 292,000.

For the main stations, Seven again won the night with 15.4% of the audience, beating Nine’s 15.2%. ABC1 attracted 15.0%, beating SBS’s 7.9 and Ten’s 7.6%.

Across the networks, Seven – which includes 7Two, 7Mates and 7Flix – attracted 29.9% of the day’s audience, ahead of Nine’s stations which were watched by 26.8% of viewers. The ABC scored 21.8%, ahead of Ten’s 11.1% and SBS’s 10.3%.
