Victorian production reaches $233m

A report from Film Victoria found that the state had its second highest expenditure on record in 2009/10, with $233m – a majority coming from local productions.

Television was the strongest sector, with 37 productions resulting in an $87m injection into the local economy.

According to the report, the 2009/10 year saw 88 film, television and digital media projects start production in the state, with Film Victoria’s funding programs leveraging $179m.

“What makes this achievement so significant is that the majority of this spend has been driven by local activity from Victorian teams,” said Film Victoria CEO Sandra Sdraulig.

The full annual report will be published in September.
