VMD unveils editorial team for latest title Popsugar Australia

Val Morgan Digital has announced the editorial team for Popsugar Australia, which it began publishing earlier in January.

Popsugar joins VMD’s growing stable of publications including  Fandom, The Latch and Thrillist, after the media business extended its partnership with global media company Group Nine Media.

Until Bardas returns, the managing editor role will be taken on by Valentina Todoroska – who is also managing editor of The Latch – in the interim. Todoroska was formerly the lifestyle editor of 10Daily and managing editor of Mamamia.

Also joining the editorial team is Alexandra McCarthy, who will become beauty editor for Popsugar Australia in addition to her current role as beauty and wellness editor at The Latch. She previously worked at Woman’s Day, ELLE, WHO Magazine and Girlfriend Magazine.

Meanwhile, Lyndsey Rodrigues will take on the role of entertainment producer, bringing over 17 years of experience at titles including Buzzfeed and Cosmopolitan in New York City, and The Hollywood Reporter. She was also previously an entertainment correspondent for Popsugar’s US edition.

Adam Fischer, VMD national sales director, is also part of the new Popsugar Australia team.

VMD publisher Bardas said Popsugar joins a network of publications that each complement the Val Morgan cinema and outdoor networks.

“The VMD portfolio and team has gone from strength-to-strength as we continue to build a publishing network by design. Each publication complements the Val Morgan cinema and outdoor networks, and it’s because of this that we stand apart from other digital publishers.

Popsugar was formerly published by Fairfax Media-owned Allure Media until its assets were folded into Pedestrian TV when Nine acquired Fairfax Media in 2018.

It has been published in Australia for more than 10 years, and according to Comscore, was the #1 most engaged-with women’s lifestyle site globally for the month of September, 2020.
