Vodafone becomes platinum partner of Cricket Australia

Vodafone has signed on as a platinum partner of Cricket Australia, becoming naming rights partner of the men’s Test, and partner of the Australian women’s team, and Rebel Women’s Big Bash League.

The announcement:

Cricket Australia is excited to welcome Vodafone to the family, with the telco joining as men’s Test naming rights partner, rebel Women’s Big Bash League partner and a partner of the Australian Women’s Team.

The sponsorship signals the return of Vodafone, which is part of the TPG Telecom Group, to international cricket. As part of the sponsorship, the telco will partner with the Australian Men’s Team which recently reclaimed the mantle as the number one ranked Test nation.

Vodafone will also feature as a partner of the T20 World Cup winning Australian Women’s Team and the second standalone rebel Women’s Big Bash League, showing the growth in the women’s game over recent years.

Cricket will form part of Vodafone’s new brand identity launched earlier this month. You Rule reflects Vodafone’s ongoing commitment to ensure that customers are at the heart of everything it does.

Cricket Australia Interim CEO, Nick Hockley, said there was excitement in reconnecting with one of the world’s biggest telco providers ahead of the upcoming summer of cricket.

“It’s fantastic to reconnect with Vodafone and to be back working together ahead of what is shaping as a massive summer of cricket,” Hockley said.

“What better way to start than with the opening international matches of the summer with the CommBank ODI series against New Zealand in late-September, followed by the second standalone WBBL which will feature the best female cricketers from around the world.

“We all know how important the men’s Test summer is to Australian cricket, and we want to thank Vodafone for supporting these matches as our Test naming rights partner.”

Vodafone will feature across all major cricket competitions this summer, continuing as the major partner of the Adelaide Strikers in the KFC Big Bash League and the Strikers’ principle partner in the WBBL.

TPG Telecom Chief Executive Officer Iñaki Berroeta said the partnership was the perfect fit for Vodafone.

“As a customer champion, we’re excited to be backing these winning teams,” Mr Berroeta said.

“It has been a challenging year for many Australians, so when fans sit down to enjoy a match this summer, we’ll be proud to be cheering on our cricketers with them.”
