Vodafone poised to launch music streaming service
Vodafone is planning to enter Australia’s nascent music streaming space through a partnership with mobile solutions provider Mia.
Mia is to run games, video content and music streaming for Vodafonem although the music streaming service is not expected to launch for six months, Mia told Mumbrella.
Mia’s COO Jon Mooney told Mumbrella: “Vodafone is taking a hands off approach, and has outsourced games, video and music streaming to us.”
The music streaming service will use a subscription model and won’t take advertising. Mooney added that he expected 65% of the new platform’s revenues to come from music.
A Vodafone spokesperson was not aware of the new service, and declined to comment.
Vodafone will join music streaming services that will include Spotify, Rdio, Songl and most recently Telstra through a deal with MOG.
Don’t you need service to stream? Maybe the Vodafone spokesperson was using their network, hence why they weren’t aware of it.

I’m with Vodafone and this article wouldn’t load on on my phone, oh the irony.

Did somebody say Music Station? Combine Vodafone’s network with no brand in the music space and I smell another telco music disaster. Leave it to Rdio and Spotify.

Wish they’d fix their main offering first. Unless they’re planning to stop streaming songs halfway through or have them no work in most homes and buildings.
If that’s the case, they’ll OWN that space.

Anyone still with Vodafone? Has the service improved? I was with them for years and after months of being told there were problems with my phone I went to Optus and the problems went away. It’s not so much the bad network that made me annoyed, it was that they didn’t admit the service was bad for so long. They’d need to have built quite few towers for me to ever consider going back and they’d pretty much have to give it away.

Vodafone, oy vey! The only mobile company which aborts every second call, forces you to re-dial endlessly and then slugs you with whopping additional bills at the end of the month for exceeding contract limits.
Talk to them? You might as well speak to your dog. Hours waiting, then some thickly accented nitwit gets on the line and refuses to acknowledge fault or issue credits.
Die, Vodafone, die!

Late last year, my partner had trouble with a Vodofone salesman ringing her 8 to 10 times a day – borderline stalking.
When we contacted Vodafone to complain, we were told (in writing) that Vodafone Australia had no control over that employee and could do nothing about the harassment.
…
WHAT?

MIA I hope you have services revenue in your deal because you aren’t going to make much on a clip of the ticket
