Warner Bros reveals new networks leadership team under refreshed business model

Warner Brothers Discovery has announced a new business model, including a new networks leadership team for Australia and New Zealand.

The new model will see Richard Sutherland, head of news, and Kylie Elsom, VP P&C, ANZ, depart the business after July 31.

Warner Bros. said it the changes come as it “looks to the future”, and charts a path to success.

Juliet Peterson, VP, head of networks, ANZ, said the new team is an exciting mix of new faces, and experienced and brilliant leaders.

“This year has been immensely challenging for the WBD ANZ networks team, with huge and disruptive changes,” she explained. “I think this refreshed leadership team is exactly the right group of people to take us into the future and chart a pathway to success.”

Matt Barthow has been promoted to senior director, content, ANZ. He has spent over three years at the company, as the NZ-based director of digital and FTA content for Australia and New Zealand. Prior to Warner Bros Discovery, he spent over thirteen years at MediaWorks NZ, which is home to some of the country’s most loved radio brands including Mai FM, The Edge, George FM, More FM, The Breeze, The Rock, The Sound, Magic, Humm, Channel X and streaming app, rova.

Stephanie Taylor-Carrillo has been made director of corporate comms, ANZ, while Charlotte Holden has been appointed director, legal, ANZ.

The new members will join the following existing leadership team – James Hole, senior director, revenue, ANZ; Sasha Mackie, senior director, marketing, ANZ; Gab Ayoub, GVP, head of creative, APAC’ Noni Ahluwalia, senior director, FP&A, ANZ & Japan; and Richard Beniston, now senior director, product and data, ANZ.

“It is going to be incredibly difficult to say goodbye to so many amazing people who we work with, but looking into the future, I’m excited by the potential of the new business,” said Peterson.

“We have the best team in the sector, and clear plans to scale audiences with market leading content and products.

“I especially want to single out Matt Barthow, who has been working in the Flower Street studios since 2007, starting out as an intern. Now as senior director, content, he will lead content strategy, programming, acquisition, commissioning and scheduling for WBD’s portfolio of pay and free-to-air channels and platforms across Australia and New Zealand.”

The new business model begins on July 8.
