Whispir appoints chief marketing officer based in the US

Australian-headquartered software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider Whispir has promoted US-based Patrick Armitage to chief marketing officer.

Armitage joined Whispir in January, and has since been charged with leading the development and implementation Whispir’s go-to-market strategy in North America, in addition to supporting the growth of a new team and office in Boulder, Colorado.

Armitage said: “I’m excited to take on this new role at Whispir, and for the opportunity to strengthen and grow our marketing strategy across the regions we operate in. Our team’s work to date has included establishing new marketing best practices that have been adopted globally and supporting the growth of Whispir’s new US-based team and offices. We look forward to building on the progress we have made and developing a high-calibre team to execute on the exciting plans we have in the pipeline.”

New Whispir CMO, Patrick Armitage

Whispir is a SaaS communications workflow platform “that automates interactions between organisations and people”.

Armitage was most recently running his own strategic marketing consultancy. Previously he was at Zingfit, where he was VP of sales and marketing for almost three years. In this role, he was tasked with growing the grand and company revenue, as well as facilitating Zingfit’s acquisition by private equity investors, Advent International. During his career he has worked on advertising and marketing campaigns for global brands, firms and start-ups in London, New York and Colorado.

The role is an expansion of Armitage’s existing duties, where he will lead global marketing for Whispir, to deliver the company’s three-year plan, and “support the business’s growth-focused culture across the wider company”. His focus will be to build a “world class marketing team, a global digital marketing strategy, and developing robust go-to-market strategies with Whispir’s sales leaders in the Americas, Asia, and Australia”, according to a statement.

Founder and CEO of Whispir, Jeromy Wells, said: “We are delighted to promote Patrick to the role of CMO. His wealth of experience and industry knowledge has already seen him make significant contributions to the Whispir team, and we view his promotion as a sign of our commitment to promoting talent from within, as well as highlighting our scale as we go about building a world-class team of digital marketing experts. We are confident that Patrick will continue to accelerate and enhance our growth-focused market strategy and support the talented teams we have across the business.”

Whispir was founded by Wells and a fellow architect in 2002 as a side-project. It has since evolved and grown into a global communications innovator with offices in three countries (Australia, US and Singapore).

It listed on the ASCX in June 2019.
