In 2001 Anderson co-hosted the Triple J breakfast radio show alongside Adam Spencer, departing the radio station in 2004.

The executive producer and host of Gruen, is joining the third most popular breakfast show in Melbourne – according to Melbourne Radio Survey 5 – which has a 7.6% audience share.

Anderson said he is a huge fan of the show and ‘Hot Breakfast’ has been his “lifeline to Melbourne”.

“It’s a show that gives you the news, and makes the news, all with a laugh. So many times I have thought I would love to be part of that conversation, and now I’m rapt that I get to, waking up with my favourite city in the world,” Anderson said in a statement.

Co-host of the breakfast show, Eddie McGuire, said he is “delighted” to see Anderson join the team.

“With Wil in the morning, and Mick Molloy in the afternoons, Triple M is in the enviable position of having two of the most unique and successful comedians in Australian showbiz history,” McGuire said.

Mike Fitzpatrick, head of content at Triple M, added: “Wil is one of the funniest and most respected comedians in the country. He is loved in Melbourne, selling out his comedy festival shows every year.”
