WPP’s WhiteGrey appoints new strategy director and group account director

WPP’s WhiteGrey has strengthened its strategy department with the appointment of Brooke Thompson as strategy director.

Formerly strategy director at media agency Mindshare, Thompson brings with her experience working with brands across an array of industries including Tourism New Zealand, Foxtel, Chanel, Volvo and Kimberly-Clark.

The appointment of Thompson is the latest move by WhiteGrey to grow and strengthen its strategy department and follows the appointment of Simon Wassef as chief strategy officer earlier this year.

Commenting on the appointment, Wassef said: “Brooke will kill it at WhiteGrey. She is what I call an X-shaped strategist. She operates at the intersection of media, brand, experience and technology, and that’s invaluable to our clients because it helps them get to extraordinary work. That’s why she’s here.”

Thompson has produced work for Volvo that has won various awards, including the award for Brand Value at the Australian Effie’s, alongside winning the MFA Business Impact and Grand Prix Awards in 2019.

Thompson said of her appointment: “I’m thrilled to be joining WhiteGrey… I’m looking forward to contributing to the compelling work the team produces for clients – leveraging my previous experience across a number of categories including FMCG, Entertainment, QSR and Auto help our clients achieve further growth.”

Off the back of Thompson’s appointment, Natalie Robinson has also joined as WhiteGrey’s new group account director.

Robinson has worked in Europe and Australia across brands like Woolworths, Optus and Bank of Queensland locally and Walgreen Boots and Philps globally.

In May 2018, WhiteGrey launched a new strategy. It has since become a Top Ten Agency in the Pacific (Cannes Creativity Report) and recently won the Grand Prix for Effective Innovation at the 2020 Global WARC Awards.

Last year it was appointed to the WWF account in Australia.
