Melanie Brown will mentor the ‘underdog’ group when the competition goes into the live stage later this month.

Her return to Seven comes despite a bitter court case which saw Brown fight the network for the right to work at Nine.

In April 2013, the Seven Network won an injunction stopping former X Factor judge Mel B from switching to Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent.

The X Factor was down on last week’s audience of 895,000 and was also beaten by The Block on Nine, which attracted 953,000.

The Block and The X Factor were the two most-watched shows across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).

Meanwhile, Ten’s Todd Sampson’s Body Hack at 8:30pm saw its audience sink to 486,000 after 588,000 tuned in last week.

It was beaten by Seven’s Cold Feet, which at 8:45pm was watched by 612,000.

Seven won the night with an audience share of 19.8%, ahead of Nine’s share of 19.2%. Ten just managed to claim third place with a share of 10.9% while the ABC had a share of 10.7%.

In the news battleground, Seven News at 6:00pm was watched by 1.023m, slipping to 1.004m from 6:30pm while Nine News at 6:00pm had an audience of 910,000, sliding to 900,000 from 6:30pm.
