Sydney digital agency Lowe Profero, part of the global Mullen Lowe Group, today announced the appointment of Barth Wahlen as Experience Design Director, further enhancing the agency’s omni-channel experience design offering.

Widely respected as an industry heavyweight, Wahlen joins Lowe Profero with Experience Design Lead credentials from Westpac Group, DDB Amsterdam, DDB Sydney and Blast Radius.

The move comes as Lowe Profero consolidates its recent success in omni-channel experience design, following the 2015 launch of numerous landmark customer experience products and platforms for clients including Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Guzman Y Gomez and Harper Collins.

As Experience Design Director, Wahlen will be heading-up a dedicated, ten-person experience design team, personally overseeing projects, research, UX strategy and design thinking.

Reporting to ECD Ash Hopper, Wahlen brings a diverse portfolio of international experience with brands including McDonalds, Telstra, KLM and Westpac – work that has seen him bring home awards including a Webby Award, Grand Prixes Cannes Lion, and FWA Site of the Day.

Citing Wahlen’s strong track record creating online and mobile banking products for Westpac and St George, Lowe Profero ECD Ash Hopper said, “Barth’s background with international and local brands across a variety of sectors elegantly complements Lowe Profero’s existing strengths in omni-channel retail marketing.”

Creating compelling, cross channel, customer experiences is now critical to businesses, brands and customers. When we met Barth, we knew immediately we had found a leader not a follower. He’s got a clear and disciplined approach in all his work and importantly has demonstrated he can create category- and business-defining experiences.” He added.

Wahlen said he was excited to be joining an agency consistently producing brave, considered and highly effective work. “Lowe Profero recognises that a brand is no longer just defined by what it says, but by what it does. I was attracted to the close working partnership the agency had established with clients, designing integrated brand, product and service experiences.” He said.

Wahlen takes up his new role effective immediately.
