MKR top show with 1.659m but Love Child and The Block win night for Nine
Channel Nine posted a weeknight high audience for The Block with 1.554m last night, however My Kitchen Rules gave Seven the night’s top rating show with 1.659m according to OzTam.
The MKR cook-off elimination of lesbian couple Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton was the top program in all people but second in people 25-54. Meanwhile Channel Nine’s The Block, also in the 7.30pm timeslot, was first in the 25-54 demographic, and second in all programs. It was the highest weeknight audience yet for the series so far.
Love Child followed on Channel Nine at 8.54pm, with 1.289m making it the second highest rating episode of the series, as its highest yet was 1.35m on February 17. The final episode will be screened next week.
Meanwhile Ten’s whodunnit multiplatform drama Secrets and Lies had 316,000 from 8.30pm, falling 31st in all programs and 25th in the network’s target demographic of 25-54s. Ten saw a slight uptick in ratings for the show from last week when it rated 278,000.
And SBS saw a lift for its second episode of American drama Vikings which averaged 281,000 at 8.30pm after receiving 240,000 last week.
Seven’s US import Revenge had 854,000 at 8.45pm, second in the timeslot after Love Child and 11th in all programs and sixth in people 25-54.
Nine won the news and current affairs timeslots with Nine News and Nine News 6.30pm followed by A Current Affair at 7pm, helping the network win the largest share of the audience with 26.9 per cent.
Seven had a 23.3 per cent audience share and ABC1 was third with 13.1 per cent, while Ten’s audience share was 8.2 per cent.

“Secrets and Lies” is such a bad name to give a mainstream show; it sounds like a daytime drama. No wonder nobody is watching.

The two girls chose to publicise their status (and make some money no doubt) in a piece in New Idea and so had a hand in the labelling process. They also seemed to be enjoying the additional coverage (I hesitate to use the word “notoriety”). Clearly didn’t help their cooking though !!
