People’s Choice Credit Union launches musical bus stop
Commuters at bus stops in Adelaide are being given a choice of music to listen to while they wait for their ride – courtesy of People’s Choice Credit Union.
Five different headphone sockets have been fitted in bus and tram shelters, and people can choose between country, rock, classical, pop or RnB by local artists Danny Hooper, Tracer, Ashley Klose, Sonic Monkey and Malo Brando.
In some areas, benches have been replaced with a leather lounge chair, an office swivel chair, a body-moulded seat and a kitchen bench, giving consumers a choice of what they sit on.
“We’re giving people a choice of what to sit on and what to listen to, just like we give them a great choice of banking products,” said People’s Choice MD Peter Evers.
The agency behind the campaign was KWP.

A nice idea cuningly up-cycled. Looks like that OOH solution found the problem it was looking for.
Like the recent NRMA stereo-in-a-bus-shelter, this seems more about the PR and media awards than the actual customer engagement…

Are headphones supplied?
If the answer’s “no”, one would assume that the commuter would need to already have a pair on them, which means they’ve already got a music device on them as well.
So the question is…
Why would a commuter pull the headphones out of their own ipod, with their own choice of music on it- and then plug it into the bustop to get fed whatever drivel the credit Union could license?

Annonymous, I’m not sure this is about providing a service of quality listening material. It’s merely a different advertising campaign to grab people’s attention.
