Pink Media picks up Grindr

Grindr Logo (gold background)Newly launched gay media sales house Pink Media Group has picked up the representation for hook-up app Grindr within the Australian market.

The app – which allows gay men to meet up with those who are nearby – has around 125,000 Australian users. Sydney is the world’s fourth most popular city for the app.

Pink Media boss Ben Mulcahy claimed: “Grindr has been a technological phenomenon for gay men globally. The advertising opportunities are substantial both on a national and local level. On a local level the GPS capabilities could allow coffee shops, restaurants, bars, clothing stores to encourage high disposable income earners in the neighbourhood to visit.”

Grindr has also just launched a sister application for straight people called Blendr.

Mulcahy told Mumbrella the Pink was likely to take on the sales for Blendr too.
