Quiip creates new operations director position

Online community management service provider Quiip has created the new position of operations director. UK-born Russell Ward has been appointed in the role.

The announcement:

Australia’s leading online community management and moderation services provider Quiip has appointed Russell Ward as Operations Director in response to rapid business growth.

“This appointment reflects the growing demand for the professional online community management and moderation services that Quiip delivers,” Quiip CEO Alison Michalk said.

“More and more businesses, government departments and non- governmental organisations are recognising that conversations about them and their brands are happening in the social media sphere whether they are part of it or not – and that they need to be involved in that conversation in order to manage, influence, engage, monitor and respond effectively.”

UK-born Russell Ward has been appointed to the newly created position. As Operations Director, he will manage the company’s day-to-day activities, working closing with internal and external teams to deliver projects for clients including Sensis, SBS, Cancer Council NSW, Inspire Foundation, City of Sydney and The Line, a Federal Government community service initiative. He will also develop new business initiatives to expand Quiip’s service delivery capabilities, offerings and client base.

“Russell brings an ideal mix of skills to the new role – from project management, communications and high-level senior advisory and consulting roles, to social media expertise. That experience makes him well placed to develop initiatives that both anticipate and meet our customers’ needs, and position our business to remain at the forefront of online community management and moderation services delivery.”

Prior to joining Quiip, Russell worked on the delivery of high profile reform projects for both the New South Wales and Canadian governments. He has also worked in senior advisory roles with KPMG in Sydney, consulting to governments across Australia in the social policy space, and for IBM Global Services in London in the communications sector. Russell is also active in social media, having created the popular expat, travel and lifestyle blog, In Search of a Life Less Ordinary, a finalist in the 2012 Best Australian Blogs competition.
