New host announced for 2GB Drive

Clinton Maynard has been announced as the new host of the 2GB Drive program in 2025.

Sydney Now with Clinton Maynard will launch on Monday, January 27. Maynard was previously the Weekday Overnights host at 2GB, and a regular fill-in presenter on Drive. Prior to this, he was news director and content director at 2UE, and hosts talk shows on 2UE, and Macquarie Sports Radio.

He recalls walking into 2GB’s studio as a 15-year-old work experience kid, “in love with talk radio”, where he spent a week shadowing the Drive Show.

“To be appointed to present that same show, three decades later, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to talk about what matters to our Sydney listeners every day and have a few laughs along the way.”

He is taking over from former host, Chris O’Keefe, who announced his immediate departure on air last month in order to move into the political and media advocacy space – a decision that took the station’s managers by surprise.

In a note sent to staff, seen by Mumbrella, 2GB content manager, Luke Davis called O’Keefe’s decision “a disappointing development for many of us – it’s a decision that has been made entirely by Chris, in consultation with his family”.

Davis called Maynard “a talk radio specialist”.

“He has dedicated his life and career to the medium and knows how to tell a story, entertain and connect with audiences,” Davis continued.

“As we enter this new era of 2GB Drive, and a federal election year, there is no one better placed to dissect the issues that matter to Sydneysiders on their drive home than Clinton Maynard. He’s ready and raring to go.”
