2SER recruits for new MD as Martin Walters departures

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Macquarie University announced that Martin Walters has resigned as managing director of radio station 2SER (Sydney Educational Broadcasting Ltd).

The announcement:

2SER, a community radio station, is jointly owned by Macquarie University and UTS.

Martin Walters joined the station in 2019 during its 40th year and successfully led 2SER through a number of challenges, including navigating the COVID-19 lockdowns and driving a listener fundraiser in 2020 to replace an FM antenna severely damaged by lightning.

Martin has transitioned the station through a time of many improvements to internal systems and processes, and an organisational restructure at the end of 2021.

While 2SER sadly bid farewell to some of its longstanding staff at that time, it has continued to aim high, starting new projects and programs in 2022 as it begins to put the pandemic behind it.

The board of directors thanks Martin for his compassionate leadership, enthusiasm and achievements, which have positioned the station well for future success. The Board wishes Martin all the best as he pivots his career to a different sector.

The board of directors will commence a formal recruitment process to fill the managing director position. In the interim, Cameron Woods has been appointed as acting managing director when Martin leaves on 8 July.
