$4.4m for Docklands Studios in Victorian budget

The Victorian Government has presented its 2010/2011 budget, which includes $4.4 million over two years for new infrastructure at the Melbourne Central City Studios.

Minister for the Arts Peter Batchelor also announced $4.4m over four years to support the Melbourne International Film Festival and its market program, 37° South, and $2m for a Children’s Television Fund for more production for ABC3.

Other announcements include:

$1m over two years, bringing the total fund to $2 million to continue the Digital Media Fund, which encourages the development of digital media, console and online games.

Other artistic endeavours to receive funding include Scienceworks, the Mewlbourne International Comedy Festival (and its 25th anniversary), the State Library of Victoria, a new home for Circus Oz, and the creation of a new peak body for music, Music Victoria.
