A dad takes charring to the extreme in Barbeques Galore Father’s Day spot

Barbeques Galore is helping families up their dad’s barbeque game, just in time for Father’s Day.

The new campaign continues the brand platform, ‘Now you’re cooking’, which explores the anxiety caused by the pressure to pull off the perfect barbeque. This time the spotlight is on dad Jimmy’s disastrous barbeque dinner, serving steak and sausages cooked down to coal.

The new platform was created by The General Store and kicked off in July with a look at an awkward moment at a company barbeque.

Mike Ainsworth, Barbeques Galore general manager of marketing, saw the opportunity for the brand platform to be used on Father’s Day.

“When we first developed the Now You’re Cooking platform we really saw its potential to bring us consistent opportunities to talk to customers. The Father’s Day campaign is a moment we eagerly celebrate every year as we start that move towards warmer and longer days. With the ‘Now You’re Cooking’ platform we’ve really been able to see how strong this platform is and how quickly it has established itself. We can’t wait to show you what else we have in store for you,” he said.

The new ad is narrated by comedian Sam Simmons. Alongside the TVC, the Father’s Day campaign will also appear online, on radio, out-of-home and in-store.

Danny Lattouf, partner and chief strategy officer at The General Store, said: “This platform really allows us to amplify our human truths around BBQ performance anxiety. And with Jimmy, we’ve really had some fun that we think our audience is going to love. The Sam Simmons VO is a hilarious cherry on top.”
