
‘A fantastic addition’: Intrepid Travel hires new local head of marketing

Alexa Theofanou is the new head of marketing for ANZ
Intrepid Travel has hired Alexa Theofanou as its local head of marketing.
A marketing professional with industry experience in Australia and the United Kingdom, Theofanou was most recently the managing director of creative studio, Studio Dive. Prior to this, she was a marketing director for the Australian arm of sandals brand, Havaianas, from June to December in 2024.
She also worked at British coffee brand, Minor Figures, for just over three years. Theofanou joined the business as its head of APAC marketing in August 2020. Two years later, she relocated to London to serve as the brand’s chief marketing officer, a position she held until October 2023.
Overall, Theofanou’s career has seen her work across the creative, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and sporting industries.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Intrepid at such an exciting time in its journey,” Theofanou said in a press release.
“Intrepid is not only an iconic brand in adventure travel but also a true leader in using business as a force for good. I look forward to working with the team to share that story with more travellers across Australia and New Zealand.”

“Alexa brings the perfect mix of global perspective, creative edge and purpose-driven experience to Intrepid,” Yvette Thompson, Intrepid’s general manager, said Theofanou’s background in growing brands impressed Intrepid.
“We were impressed not only by her track record of growing brands but also by her ability to connect with communities through bold, values-led marketing,” Theofanou said in the release.
“She’s a fantastic addition to our ANZ leadership team as we continue to expand our brand and impact across the region.”
Theofanou’s hiring is not the only appointment news Intrepid has released this year. In July, it promoted its general manager of marketing, ANZ, Louise Laing, to vice president of USA marketing.
Intrepid Travel was named Publication of the Year for Adventure.com at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards 2025.
