‘A great privilege for the agency’: Google signs Poem for Australian PR work
Poem has acquired international technology giant, Google, as a client for 2025.
The appointment sees the earned creative communications agency add Google’s “Australian PR business” to its catalogue. Its work will consist of managing the organisation’s earned creative campaigns and public retainer next year.
Specifically, Poem is being tasked with overseeing launches, retained comms operations and announcements covering Google’s “product device offering, AI and consumer news”, such as Google Maps, Google Search, YouTube, the artificial intelligence solution, Gemini, and more.
Google Australia and New Zealand’s director of communications, Katrin Maurer, spoke on why Google decided to go with Poem for the appointment.
“We were immediately drawn to Poem’s ethos of culture-led creativity, always seeking to put people and helpfulness first in their approach whether that’s through publicity or non-traditional creative campaigns,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to be working with a partner that shares our passion for innovation and spirit of creative curiosity.”
“Working with Google is a great privilege for the agency, and we’re beyond delighted to partner with such an iconic brand and talented team,” added Poem’s managing director, Katie Raleigh.

Poem landed Google Researcher Simon Carlile a spot at TEDxSydney to share how AI is revolutionising accessibility and hearing devices.
The new partnership adds Google to Poem’s consumer technology portfolio – a catalogue that already contains Sony Interactive Entertainment – the company behind video game console, PlayStation; camera drone company, DJI; electronics organisation, Withings, and audio equipment business, Sonos.
“In just a couple of months, we have already put a Google Researcher centre stage talking about the future of AI at TEDxSydney, partnered with Queensland University to promote the power of AI in supporting whale conservation, and engaged renowned Aussie artist, Mulga to bring Google Australia’s most searched trends for 2024 to life in a way that’s caught the attention of press and social media alike,” Rhania Farah, general manager at Poem, enthused.
“I can’t wait to see what the year ahead will bring.”
Poem’s other clients include Cashrewards, Tourism Australia, Uber and more.
In 2025, Rob Lowe – Poem’s founder – is confirmed to be speaking at Mumbrella’s CommsCon Conference – an event dedicated to the public relations and communications industry.
During his session, Lowe is expected to be joined onstage by his agency’s creative director, Jess Cluff, to discuss what goes into becoming an “earned creative”, and why professionals with Cluff’s expertise are valuable to the sector.
