AAMI, McDonald’s, Uber Eats TVC casting nominated in 2024 Casting Guild of Australia Awards

The shortlist for the 2024 Casting Guild of Australia (CGA) Awards has been announced, with the TVC categories including casting nominees for leading brands including AAMI, McDonald’s, Uber Eats, Meat & Livestock Australia, P&O, and more.

As the only Southern Hemisphere-based awards ceremony to recognise casting across all mediums including commercials, the CGA Awards return in 2024 for the ninth year.

The awards feature two TVC categories for best casting of an actor, and best casting of a community.

Natalie Jane Harvey has been nominated three times across the two categories for the McDonald’s ‘Big Mac’ campaign, MLA’s Australian Lamb ‘Generation Gap’ campaign, and the Minderoo ‘Uncloud Vaping’ work, while Danny Long has been nominated for Sydney Water’s ‘Toilet Blockers Anonymous’ and Uber Eats’ ‘Get Almost Almost Anything’.

Lucky Price has been nominated twice too, for NRMA’s ‘Grassroots Cricket’ and Rainbow Families’ ‘Strong Safe and Fabulous’ campaign.

Megan D’Arcy, Joseph Wijangco, Peta Dermatis, and Lauren Mass have among the others who have been nominated.

Last year, Harvey won the Best Casting in a TVC – Actor category for the Telstra ‘This Is Footy Country’ campaign, while Long took home the Best Casting in a TVC – Community award for Qantas’ ‘Feels Like Home Again’.

“We are thrilled to announce the nominations for the 2024 CGA Awards! Firstly, we would like to thank our generous supporters and sponsors, whose amazing contributions make these awards and celebrations of our industry possible every year,” said Thea McLeod, CGA president.

“This year’s nominations again highlight the exceptional talent in our industry. All casting directors deserve recognition for their brilliant awareness of the talent pool in this country, as they help create perfect ensembles that transform scripts into unforgettable stories and shows.

“Each nominee should take immense pride in their contribution to our industry as we come together to celebrate the diverse productions that shape our vibrant and ever-changing entertainment landscape.”

This year’s event has been sponsored by Holding Redlich, Casting Networks, Showcast, Netflix, Matchbox Pictures, and more.

The 2024 CGA Rising Stars will also be presented on the night with recipients set to be announced in early November.

The winners will be announced at a award ceremony in Sydney on November 15.
