ASTRA names ABC’s Holly Brimble as manager of policy and regulatory affairs

Broadcaster Holly Brimble will join the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) as manager of policy and regulatory affairs in January.

The announcement:

Broadcasting expert Holly Brimble will join the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association as manager of policy and regulatory affairs, chief executive Andrew Maiden announced  today.

Holly will join ASTRA from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where she has served in corporate affairs and editorial policy roles. She has also served as the director of legal and
broadcasting policy at Free TV Australia and in various roles in the Department of Communications and Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

“Holly is a highly experienced professional having worked in policy roles in the public service, an advocacy role in the sector and in a large broadcaster,” Mr Maiden said.

“ASTRA is delighted that Holly will be joining the organisation at a time of considerable change in the subscription television industry.

“I look forward to Holly making a substantial contribution to our campaign for a modern regulatory framework that enables the sector to prosper and grow,” he said.

Ms Brimble said she was looking forward to joining ASTRA.

“Subscription media is leading the way in responding to major changes in technology and consumer behaviour and I am thrilled to be in a position to contribute at this exciting time,” Ms Brimble said.

“ASTRA has a very strong reputation as a forward-thinking and highly effective advocate for the industry and I very much look forward to being a part of the ASTRA team,” she said.

ASTRA is the industry association representing subscription media in Australia. Its members include subscription media distributors, independent channel groups, technology companies and the industries that support them.

In 2013/14 ASTRA members invested more than $600 million in local screen production, grew the  economy by $1.9 billion and provided jobs for 6600 Australians.

Ms Brimble will commence in the role in January 2015.
