ABC beats Ten for second Sunday running

Midsomer Murders was a key contributor to the success of the ABC last night, beating Ten for the third spot in network share for the second Sunday in a row.

The whodunit crime show pulled in an audience just shy of 1.5m while Ten’s Rove in the same timeslot was down by 46,000 on last week to 784,000, according to latest data from OzTam.

Stephen Fry in America at 7:30 was also strong for ABC with 1.2m. The five-minute news update at 8:35 leading into Midsomer Murders pulled a very healthy 1.3m.

But the audiences weren’t as strong over at Ten with Australian Idol falling short of the 1m mark with 992,000. It – along with Nine’s 60 Minutes – was beaten in the 7:30 timeslot by Seven’s Dancing with the Stars where blind paralympian Gerrard Gosens was eliminated.

Sunday night’s share: Seven 27.4%, Nine 26.5%, ABC 22.9%, Ten 19.1%, SBS 4%
