ABC show asks: What would it be like to kill Kyle Sandilands?
ABC2 show Review With Miles Barlow is going to ask the potentially controversial question: what would it be like to kill Kyle Sandilands?
Review With Miles Barlow, which tends towards dark topics, features the comedian reviewing everyday activities in the style of a movie reviewer.
The new series starts on ABC2 on July 22.
Radio and TV presenter Sandilands, who fronts 2Day FM’s breakfast show in Sydney and is also a judge on Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent and forthcoming Australian Idol is a polarising figure, particularly since last year’s lie detector scandal.
I’d image it would be like a really satisfying boink session.
Why would you even ask this question? For fuck sake, isn’t there enough violence in the world without asking people to start imagining what it would be like to kill someone… not funny…
Anyone getting offended by Miles Barlow’s opinion of ANYTHING needs to watch some more episodes – its SATIRE people.
More particularly if you get offended by his opinion of a public figure who makes money off his own brand of arrogance, you need to get a reality check.
If you watch the preview there are more contraversial things than killing Sandypants.
I think you miss the point Claire. Did you watch the video?
It’s farcical, thats the point
I’m really glad that they’re bringing the show back. It’s easily my favourite Australian comedy in years.
Probably the funniest Australian program of the last few years.
Yeh fair enough I didn’t watch the video… and trust me I do have a sense of humour, I guess I am just sick of all the violence you see everywhere these days so saw the headline and got pissed off about it… it just all gets a bit too much seeing it all the time in the news, TV shows etc etc…. And Russ I don’t need a reality check, but thanks for putting the thought there….
From this 2 minute clip it looks like Auntie’s and our hard earned tax dollars are being spending to very elaborate TV production. Huge number of extra’s, support actors and glamorous locations must be costing a massive future. Shame you could not be as funny without the big price tag. What are the audience numbers? I have never heard of this show before. Must need a solid following to survive.
Ross, and whoever else who hasn’t seen an episode of this show. You cannot make judgments until you have actually seen it for yourself. I have seen the entire first series and the production was far from elaborate, just produced well. For example, in one segment it was based entirely in an inner city alley way with no props, and one extra.
Stop making ill informed assumptions on what is obviously a preview to entice people to watch the show, where they would obviously show parts of the show that is at it’s most exciting and engaging point.
From the press I saw on the last series the opposite is true. Shoestring budget and on ABC2. I don’t think audience was huge – on abc’s 2nd channel. Which is criminal IMO.
“Huge number of extra’s, support actors and glamorous locations must be costing a massive future.”
Every time an apostrophe is abused a kitten dies. Also, you probably mean “fortune” rather than “future”.
Here I was thinking it would be amazingly devine and scheming up ways to cause Kyle the most pain… Then realized not real question only satire. Oh well 🙁
Sorry Claire must have been subjected to too much violence and become desensitized.
Over summer it was doing around 140,000 on ABC1. ABC2 figures last year were much smaller.
Probably not to everyone’s taste, but I think it’s one of the best shows on tv – so glad it’s come back for a second series.
Rather than kill Kyle, could we just kill him off radio and TV?
He is a world class knob…
Incredibly funny show.
Killing Kyle is breaking the law and therefore should not be condoned.
First series won Best Comedy at the AFIs last year and Trent O’Donnell also got nominated for Best Director. If only I’d written this press release…
the only sad thing about this, is you could only kill him once.
I actually went to a fancy dress party once where the theme was to come as a song.
I chose Video Killed The Radio Star, and went dressed as an assassin hired to take out Sandilands.
I hope Miles has as much fun with the idea as I did that night.
Can’t wait for it to hit the screens again. One of the funniest shows on Australian TV.
I’ve picked up a few things from the ABC, including a fifty-year old receptionist, and spots on my rocket. Guess which one reminds me of Kyle?
Myles Barlows complete aloofness at every review sure reeks of dedication to his show. With a face like a mudcrab he ironically points criticism at others, although if he didnt have a face like that i may not chuckle as much. Much to my surprise this show captures my attention as much as big breasted woman in a tight singlet with her nipples about to be exposed whilst i rush off to the toilet. Best Australian Comedy since “The Chaser”. ***** (five stars)
