ABC TV welcomes new channel manager and commissioning editor

ABC TV has appointed a new channel manager for ABC2 and a new commissioning editor for ABC factual.

The announcement:

ABC TV has today announced the appointment of Edwina Waddy to the new role of Channel Manager ABC2.

Edwina’s previous roles at ABC TV include Development Producer and Executive Producer for ABC TV Factual. She brings to the role a deep understanding of ABC TV content and audiences as well as many years of television development experience. Edwina’s credits include the development and commissioning of ABC2’s Opening Shot series and production of the Sunday Best slot.

“I’m delighted Edwina will be joining our programming team as the Channel Manager for ABC2, alongside Amber Tomlinson as Channel Manager for ABC1, said Brendan Dahill, Head of Programming, ABC1 & ABC2. “It speaks volumes about the talent we have here at the ABC that we have appointed Channel Managers from within our own ranks.”

Edwina will commence in her new role on February 3.

ABC TV also announces Andrea Ulbrick as the new Commissioning Editor ABC TV Factual.

Andrea is an award-winning television director and producer whose career spans over 20 years and several continents. She comes to the ABC after working in the independent sector with companies such as Heiress Films, Serendipity Productions / Artemis International, Essential Media, Shine Australia, Screenworld and Fremantle Media, on programs including X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent. She has produced and directed a range of international science and history co-productions for ABC TV, SBS, CBC, Arte France, BBC, Channel 4, WNET, National Geographic and Discovery.

Andrea Ulbrick commences at ABC TV on January 13.

Phil Craig, Head of Factual at ABC TV said: “Although we’re sad to be losing Edwina from the department, it’s great to see her advance her career in this way and we wish her all the best in her new position. She will be replaced as commissioning editor by Andrea Ulbrick who brings a great wealth of experience and expertise into this new role and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”
