Golfer Adam Scott urges ordinary Aussies to give the game a go
Golf Australia has unveiled a new TV commercial aimed at persuading the public to play golf.
The ad – featuring Masters champion Adam Scott – will initially run in South Australia to promote the Playgolf Week initiative. It features ordinary Australians improvising to play the game after being inspired by Scott’s victory.
The campaign has been created by The DM Group and Burning House.
The campaign is supported by a new website which provides a course directory and information on lessons and joining a club.
Golf Australia CEO Stephen Pitt said: “The vision for this concept is two-fold. Firstly, Playgolf.com.au, Playgolf Week and the new Adam Scott commercial are designed to encourage more people to play golf more often and educate Australians on the benefits of playing golf as a good way to stay active and socially connected throughout life. Secondly, we are working towards future growth of our industry through these participation initiatives. We want even more people enjoying golf and an even bigger industry over time as a result.”
Do only white people play golf in Australia? You’d think so, looking at the talent in this tvc.
This is a massive fail by Golf Australia. They’ve just shot themselves in the foot by not trying to diversify participation to more than middle class Caucasians.
Golf is a worldwide game. How about reflecting Australia’s diverse make up in such an ad?
