Adelaide radio ratings: Mix maintains top spot as Nova climbs

DMG’s 5AA has dropped in the recent radio ratings survey to strengthen the overall stronghold of Australian Radio Network’s Mix102.3, according to Nielsen figures for the Monday to Sunday share.

Despite dropping 0.6%, the classic rock FM station Mix, had a 16.2 share. The AM station dropped 1.3% from a 14.8 to 13.5 share. In survey #6 ratings results, Mix passed 5AA with a 2% share.

Paul Jackson, DMG’s group program director told Mumbrella: “5AA is doing great, before it was dizzyingly high, and now it’s settled to normal but still strong and is absolutely rock sold ahead of its competitors.”

Southern Cross Austereo’s SAFM was fourth overall with a 10.3 share, down by 0.2%, behind third place ABC891 with a 10.5% share. DMG’s Nova placed fifth with a 9.8% share, with a strong leap of 1.5%.

In breakfast, Nova and SAFM sit equal second with a 9.2 share, but Jackson said: “We’re rising, their falling and that suggests in survey 8 we’ll beat them. That’s the battle in Adelaide. That’s the best Adelaide has done in years.”

Cruise1323 took sixth place and jumped 1.3% to 9.0 share and Southern Cross Austereo’s 5MMM was seventh with a 7.2% share.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Guy Dobson, head of metro radio said: “Adelaide is a work in progress after changes [for Southern Cross Austereo]. The changes are too little to late in this stage. It’s a market for Mix 102.3 down there, take nothing way from them. But there should be a shorting in the gap in the next few surveys.”

ABC’s 5JJJ saw a rise of 0.2 to 6.7% share.
