Mumbrella is to host a lunchtime panel discussion aimed at exploring Sydney beyond the metropolitan bubble.

The inspiration for the event came from a survey organised by out of home company Adshel which suggested that more people working in the media industry had eaten at North Bondi Italian than had been to Parramatta.

Speakers on the panel include Campbell Reid, group editorial director of News Corp; Tim Ross, presenter of Mix FM’s drivetime show; Woolworths marketing chief Luke Dunkerley; MindShare CEO Katie Rigg-Smith; and Adshel marketing director Nicole McInnes.

The lunch –  Will The Real Sydney Please Stand Up? – has been organised in conjunction with Adshel. As a result of Adshel’s commercial support for the event, it is free to guests.

The panel discussion – moderated by Mumbrella editor Tim Burrowes – will cover the changing Sydney landscape and how it affects the way the industry does business. It will examine the issues that Sydneysiders care about, explore geographic and community trends and ask how marketers can reach the masses when they live such different lives to the typical adlander.

The lunch takes place in just under a fortnight. It runs from noon to 2.30pm at The Establishment, George Street, Sydney on Wednesday October 23.

120 complimentary places – available on a first come, first served basis – are available via this link. 1.45pm update: The event is now fully subscribed. If you would like to be added to a waiting list in case of cancellations, please follow the link.
