Adland ocean swim league launches
A new ocean swim league has started for the advertising and marketing industry.
The inaugural Fine Ocean-swimmers from Advertising and Marketing (FOAM) League launched today.
The league will compete in all ocean swims in Sydney this summer, the first being the Bondi to Bronte race, this Sunday 4 December.
Phil Johnston, head of planning at Euro RSCG Sydney is one of the driving forces behind FOAM. He said: “No two swims are the same and there’s a great feeling of satisfaction at the end. Knowing that during an oceanswim I’m going to be 300 or 400ms from land gives me a real reason to do all those tedious ‘keeping fit’ laps up and down a pool.”
Surf life-saving clubs in Sydney organise ocean swims as fundraisers, most of which run between 1.5 to 2kms.
On Saturday 10th December at Balmoral Beach Club there is a 2, 4 or 6km swim for Melanoma Research. Starts at 8am. Registration at 7.30. $50 donation to the charity.
We also have a 1km race at Balmoral for the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia on the 25th March which you should put in your calendars. Sounds like a great initiative. Well done Phil.
