ADMA appoints new managing director Andrea Martens, as chief member officer Mandy Eyles departs
There have been more leadership changes at industry association ADMA (Association for Data-Driven Marketing and Advertising) and its parent company AADL (Australian Alliance for Data Leadership).
Andrea Martens, the global chief brand officer of Jurlique, will take up the managing director of ADMA role which was left vacant when Ben Sharp departed after just two weeks at the helm. Mumbrella understands chief member officer Mandy Eyles is leaving the business.
AADL’s leadership upheaval began when long-serving CEO Jodie Sangster departed in March for a role with IBM.
COO Sinha was appointed to cover Sangster’s roles until a permanent replacement was found.
It was then announced Ben Sharp – former managing director of AdRoll – would join ADMA as its managing director, with the CEO role not being directly replaced.
Sharp however departed after two weeks in the role, at which point ADMA said Sinha would continue to oversee ADMA and AADL.
In June, former CEO of Aussie Home Loans Stephen Porgress became CEO of the overarching body AADL – which oversees ADMA, as well as the Institute for Analytics Professionals Australia (IAPA), Data Governance Australia (DGA) and Digital + Technology Collective – with Sinha going back to his ADMA role.
Now, it appears AADL and ADMA have finally replaced Sharp, with Martens becoming managing director of ADMA as well as Digital + Technology Collective (D+TC).
Richard Bean is joining as chair of Data Governance Australia (DGA) and Anthony Hollis will become managing director of DGA.
Porges said the group needed the right leaders at the helm.
“AADL was created 12 months ago and it has operated as coordinator to lead our data-centric groups: ADMA, D+TC, DGA and IAPA. Now, as the role of data within industry and indeed, society, continues to mature, so the position of each of these teams has elevated to guide mainstream business and societal issues. Consequently, we have needed the right seasoned and thoughtful leaders to own and drive this opportunity,” he said.
“As such, we are delighted to announce these appointments of credentialled, respected and experienced executives, each representative of the key tenets of data governance, analysis and use. Combined under AADL, they provide a coordinated leadership to help our 500+ members and the industry at large as they grapple with, and harness the opportunity for data both within their organisations and externally,” he added.
Mumbrella has asked AADL for clarification on Sinha’s role and his future with the company, which the company has said it will answer shortly.
Mumbrella has also asked for a statement on Eyles’ departure.
UPDATE 9:38am 24 August: ADMA has now confirmed Steve Sinha remains with the business. Initially, when the story was being written and posted, ADMA could not yet comment on the future of Steve Sinha and said the question would be answered shortly.

Mandy has been an awesome advocate for digital, tech and marketing at D+TC and ADMA. I’m sure she will be equally awesome in her new role – what ever that might be 😉

There’s a lot of work to do there. A toxic culture with almost 100% staff turnover in 12 months. Even with that number of departures, a couple of the most toxic remain. Good luck…

Hhmmm,
Interesting choice in ADMA leadership. With so many data authorities (IAB, Data.gov.au, Media Owners), we all thought ADMA would try and claw back some level of relevance and leadership in the category. Thought there should have been a start-up “busy” type leader in their to shake it up – hmmm, not so. #skincareandicecreamleaddataleadership

One more point. With all the compliments for Mandy, why wasn’t she made MD – seems like she would have been a great candidate?
