Expat creative director Tim Wood returns to Australia in new role with R/GA Sydney

Former BMF creative director Tim Wood will return to Australia to work with R/GA Sydney from the end of this month, ending a six year stint in New Zealand.

Wood joined Auckland agency RAPPTribal in 2012 as creative director and three years later moved to YoungShand, whose clients include Air New Zealand, Fonterra, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and various Lion brands.

“Sydney…I’m comin’ at ya!” Tim Wood, incoming R/GA Sydney creative director

“The offer to come work at R/GA in Syd was too good to turn down, so I didn’t,” Wood told Mumbrella. He will start at R/GA Sydney on April 30.

Wood previously worked in Sydney as a creative director with BMF for three years up to 2015. Accounts he worked on included the Commonwealth Bank, The Smith Family, Foxtel, NRMA, and BPAY.

In a LinkedIn post, Wood added: “After three awesome years at YoungShand, today will be my last day at the agency.

“Leading this place has been a privilege and I’m immensely proud of what I, the Core Leadership Team, and the entire agency has managed to achieve during that time. Hell of a ride.

“My decision to leave has honestly been a hard one to make, but in the end the opportunity to work as a CD with the super talented folks at R/GA in Sydney was just too good an offer to pass up. So I didn’t.

“And that, somewhat obviously, also means that after five and a half years in NZ, the Wood family’s great Kiwi adventure will also be coming to an end. I’ll be back in Sydney late April with the rest of the family following as soon as I can find a place to put them in.

“Thanks New Zealand. This is an amazing little corner of the Earth you have here. I’ve loved spending so much time in it; more time than I thought I would.

“As for Sydney, and Australia. Get ready, I’m comin’ at ya.”
