Aegis agencies dominate in regional awards

Media’s 2009 Agency of the Year Awards saw Carat/Isobar named network of the year, while Phil Talbot, the new ZenithOptimedia Australia and New Zealand chairman, was named regional agency head of the year.

The awards, run by publishing company Haymarket’s Media title for the Asian region, also saw BBH awarded creative agency of the year.

Media agency of the year went to PHD. Fellow Omnicom-owned agency Tribal DDB was named digital agency of the year.

But the biggest winners were Aegis agencies, bagging the highest score aggregated over selected categories.

Lee Stephens, Aegis Media Pacific chief executive and APAC regional digital director, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and comes of the back of our most successful year ever in Asia Pacific.”

Talbot, who is also regional CEO for APAC, recently stepped into the chairman’s role for ZenithOptimedia Australia and New Zealand following the announcement that the agency’s chief executive Belinda Rowe would leave in the new year to take up the new position of managing partner – worldwide for the network, based in London.
