AFR Magazine editor Katrina Strickland moves to Good Weekend

The Australian Financial Review Magazine editor Katrina Strickland has moved sideways to Fairfax Media sister publication Good Weekend, taking on the role of editor.

Strickland is set to start with Good Weekend in May

The announcement was made in a joint note sent out to staff today with The Age editor Alex Lavelle and The Sydney Morning Herald editor Lisa Davies wishing her well.

Both Lavelle and Davies said in the joint statement: “Katrina was the stand-out candidate, exhibiting passion and enthusiasm for long-form journalism, and the magazine’s editorial and commercial potential. A breadth and depth of ideas was backed by a strong vision for both the printed product and its content online.

“We wish to thank Amelia for her inspired editing, beautiful redesign and creative leadership,” the pair said in the the note addressed to staff.

Strickland is replacing former Good Weekend editor Amelia Lester, who was appointed to the role in December 2015.

Fairfax Media is yet to announce a replacement for Strickland.
