AGL bundles Netflix subscription for energy customers
Energy provider AGL has struck a new partnership with Netflix to give its customers access to the streaming service’s ad supported subscription.
Customers of AGL will now have Netflix Standard with Ads, currently valued at $6.99 per month, included in their AGL electricity bundle for the lifetime of their plan.
The offering is featured in a new 30-second TVC launched by AGL, which depicts customers multi-tasking their chores at home, whilst streaming their favourite programs on Netflix.
The campaign was created by AGL’s creative agency of record, Big Red. The business’ media agency of record is UM Australia.
AGL chief customer officer Jo Egan said: “We know that 69% of Australians use at least one streaming service. That’s why we have launched an energy-category exclusive partnership with Netflix in recognition of the pivotal role streaming entertainment now plays in our customers’ lives.”
Customers will be able to manage their Netflix subscription from within the AGL app or My Account, with the option to pay the difference to upgrade to Netflix Standard or Premium tiers.
“We are always looking for new ways to deliver great value to our customers and this ongoing partnership with Netflix is bringing together the essential service of energy and great streaming entertainment,” continued Egan.
“Many of us turn on Netflix when we hit the couch as naturally as we turn on the lights when it gets dark. For those who join the AGL Netflix Plan, they will have access to thousands of films and TV series on demand as part of their electricity account.”
No such thing as free, that’s why my AGL costs have gone up, I’ll be promptly disconnecting tomorrow.
