AGL Energy celebrates 175th anniversary with GPY&R ad
Australia’s second oldest company, utility brand AGL has launched a brand campaign to commemorate its 175 anniversary. The work, created by GPY&R and entitled “Looking back on 175 years of looking forward”, is intended to showcase the impact the company has had on Australian history as well as emphasising AGL’s commitment to clean energy.
The campaign consists of a 60 second TV commercial as well as a 30 second spot, which will run as part of an integrated campaign for three months across TV, outdoor, online and print along with below-the-line executions.
Russel Howcroft, CEO of Y&R Brands Australia said in a release, “This new commercial for the anniversary of AGL highlights their strong heritage, community involvement and focus on sustainable energy in Australia today. It’s not hard to make a great commercial for a company with such a rich history and promising future.”
AGL was responsible for powering the first gas lamp in Australia in 1841. The work, directed by Tim Dryoff with Kent Boswell executive producing, includes references to AGL’s previous ads, including the 80s classic Flame Girls.
