AGT beats Masterchef as the finals continue

A one hour and 45 minute episode of Australia’s Got Talent won Tuesday night’s TV ratings beating Masterchef by almost 200,000.

It was a dead heat in Melbourne for the top two shows with the first “finals” episode of AGT and the third New York episode of Masterchef both raking in 558,000, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.

The five-city metro audience for AGT was 1.807m.

Prime minister Julia Gillard’s role as co-host of the 7pm Project had little positive influence on the ratings with total viewers down 88,000 on the previous night to 808,000.

Brisbane was the only city where it beat Home and Away as the second most-watched show at 7pm. The Block won the time slot with a five city audience of 1.354m.

Seven easily won the ratings night with Nien and Ten in a dead heat for second.
