AIMCO to host ‘Behind the Mic’ webinar on podcasting for growth and engagement

The Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AiMCO) will present a webinar exploring how creators and brands can leverage podcasts to grow audiences, engage communities, and drive impact.

The announcement:

Three of Australia’s leading podcast experts are set to share their insights in Behind the Mic: Podcasting for Growth and Engagement – the latest webinar from the Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AiMCO).

The webinar, to be held on Tuesday, November 4, will explore how creators and brands are increasingly using podcasts to grow audiences, engage communities and drive impact.

A panel of leading voices in the Australian podcasting and influencer marketing space will provide insider knowledge from their experience, along with practical strategies to help participants navigate the podcasting landscape and build engaged audiences.

Hosted by AiMCO managing director, Patrick Whitnall, the panel will include digital content creator and Toni and Ryan podcast co-host, Ryan Jon Dunn, Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) CEO, Lizzie Young, and Two Doting Dads podcast executive producer, Jess Smalley.

Dunn is a digital content creator and co-host of the Webby award-winning comedy podcast, Toni and Ryan. Known for its irreverent humour and fiercely loyal fanbase, Toni and Ryan has fast become one of Australia’s most downloaded podcasts. Dunn and podcast host, Toni Lodge, now produce daily podcasts, along with live-streamed events and social content. They have also hosted in-person listener meet-ups and parties across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and Canada.

Young is a global media executive, with 25 years’ experience in marketing, content, sales, commercial partnerships and operations across the UK, the US and APAC. As CEO of CRA, she has been heavily involved in digital transformation, leveraging new platforms and technologies for growth. She brings a wealth of audio and content experience to the panel, having spent 12 years at Nine and 12 years in radio at Southern Cross Austereo and Global Radio in London.

Smalley is a content strategist, currently working as the executive producer of the Two Doting Dads podcast with Matty J and Ash Wicks. Smalley has more than eight years’ experience in content, podcasting and digital strategy, specialising in connecting diverse audiences and growing meaningful communities. She has worked with top Australian creators, including overseeing content creation for Mark Bouris’ podcast and digital projects, along with stints at Triple J, ABC and 2GB. She is also passionate about growing the local creator economy, launching the Creator Toolkit – a newsletter featuring strategies to help Australian creators build and monetise their platforms.

“Podcasting continues to prove audio’s power as a highly influential medium, delivering unparalleled audience engagement and proven commercial impact. This panel brings together expertise spanning content creation, audience development and commercial execution – and I’m looking forward to sharing strategic insights that can help creators successfully navigate this rapidly evolving space,” said Lizzie Young, CEO at Commercial Radio & Audio.

AiMCO managing director, Patrick Whitnall, said: “Podcasts have become a powerful extension for creators, allowing them to expand their brand and diversify revenue streams beyond social platforms. Increasingly, creators are recognising podcasts as a way to engage their audiences for longer, deliver richer storytelling and create new opportunities for brand partnerships.

“Podcasts are an increasingly growing force in Australia’s media landscape, engaging an average of six million listeners each week.* This growth is being driven by Australians’ appetite for podcast content, along with the expanding and diversifying roster of participating publishers.

“This webinar will tap into this growth and momentum, providing creators with practical advice, insights and skills to help make the most of the podcasting landscape, its ability to help grow audiences and deliver long-term brand growth.”

The upcoming webinar is the latest in a series of in-person and online events delivered by AiMCO for the national influencer community. This year, AiMCO has hosted webinars on a range of industry topics, including intellectual property, crisis and reputation management, talent management, user-generated content and sports marketing, among others.

The podcasting webinar will be held online on Tuesday, November 4 from 11am AEDT. Attendance is free for AiMCO members. Non-members are also welcome to attend.
