Air New Zealand retells the tortoise and the hare fable in new ‘Meanwhile in NZ’ video

Air New Zealand has released its latest instalment in its ‘Meanwhile in New Zealand’ campaign which sees the brand tackle the tortoise and the hare fable, retelling the tale with mountain bikes hurtling through the NZ landscape.

Created by Host, the video sees two men dressed as the tortoise and the hare race down a hill dressed as the fable’s characters, it ends with the line ‘make tomorrow epic’.

It aims to showcase the beauty of NZ’s South Island as a summer destination and follows on from the Christmas ‘Meanwhile in New Zealand’ video.

Air New Zealand general manager Australia Leanne Geraghty said: “New Zealand ticks all the boxes for cycle enthusiasts with more than 2,500 kilometres of pristine and diverse cycle ways to explore. Air New Zealand and our alliance partner Virgin Australia operate an average of 200 flights across the Tasman a week connecting the Australian traveller to 25 destinations around New Zealand.”

The campaign aims to encourage more Australians to visit the country and has showcased the country’s snow fields in two previous campaigns, the first of which saw two snowboarders and a skier wearing matching woollen skivvies ski and board down Central Otago’s Isobel Glacier.  The second saw a skier dressed as a rugby ball shoot through goal posts.

The Meanwhile in New Zealand campaign showcases what is happening in New Zealand right now, encouraging more Australians to tick New Zealand off their bucket list and visit now.
