Aldi’s ‘precedented’ prices continue through these ‘unprecedented times’ in latest spot
In these unprecedented times, Aldi is making its ‘precedented’ low prices known to Australians.
A new TVC shows a woman returning home from the shops, only to be interrupted by a live television broadcast on a helicopter asking if she bought toilet paper at an ‘unprecedented price during these unprecedented times’.
The TVC marks a shift in tone for supermarkets in the COVID-19 era. The film is a tongue in cheek look at the struggles the supermarket industry has faced since the crisis began including pressure on supply chains pushing the price of goods up and the disappearance of toilet paper from shelves.
The campaign was made by BMF. The agency has held Aldi’s creative account for over 17 years.
The campaign will run across TV, outdoor, in store, digital, social and in catalogues.
In August last year, BMF hired Kinga Papp as group strategy director for the Aldi account.

They pinched the idea, the voice of the chopper reporter, etc from Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell. Very unoriginal.

The ad is also taking a swipe at the media. The reporter didn’t get the answer she was looking for, so…. “Let’s just go.” It just goes to prove the old journalistic adage, “Never let the truth get in the way of a sensational headline.”
