Alexa understands Aussie slang with Sophie Monk and the Inspired Unemployed
Amazon Alexa & Devices has released a social campaign via Havas Village Australia, starring Sophie Monk and The Inspired Unemployed, titled: ‘Aussies get Alexa. Because Alexa gets Aussies.’
One Green Bean was responsible for the creative, PR and influencer elements of the campaign, which showcases Alexa’s ability to understand both Australian accents and Australian slang terms, like “avo” and “snags”.
In one of the 30-second spots for the campaign, titled ‘Going Shoppin’, Monk is hurriedly listing to Alexa her shopping list, which the device understands and sends to her phone.
In another of the spots, ‘Day For It’, influencer duo The Inspired Unemployed use Alexa to work out the conditions for surfing.

Havas PR Australia CEO Simone Gupta commented: “The campaign shows an idea can come from anywhere and flourish through collaboration between our Village agencies, with the idea developed within One Green Bean and expertly executed by our partners at Host/Havas.”
The campaign launched on 20 September on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Neither sets of talent are strangers to starring in campaigns, with Monk having previously fronted campaigns for Jimmy Brings and Youi, while the Inspired Unemployed have appeared in campaigns for The Iconic, Tooheys Extra Dry and Tradie’s. The Tradie’s campaign was later discontinued after complaints were made to Ad Standards about the depiction of a boombox in a bathtub. Havas was not involved in the above campaigns.
