Amazon Music launches podcast offering in Australia

Podcasts are now available across all tiers of Amazon Music in Australia, with a series of new and original titles landing alongside well-known local and international podcasts.

Amazon Music subscribers will now have access to podcasts in the Amazon Music app, on Alexa-enabled devices including Echo speakers, and on the Amazon Music website.

New, original titles that can be streamed now on Amazon Music include shows hosted and created by Jake Brennan, John Bishop & Tony Pitts, DJ Khaled, Dave Cawley.

Among the original titles is Amazon exclusive podcast Cold, a true-crime podcast hosted by investigative journalist Dave Cawley, which follows the unsolved disappearances of Susan Powell (season one) and Joyce Yost (season two).

Amazon Music head of podcasts for Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Craig Strachan, said: “We’re thrilled to expand podcasts to customers in Australia, bringing our customers more forms of audio entertainment to enjoy with Amazon Music.

“With this launch, we’re offering customers a convenient podcast listening experience that fits their lifestyle. Our customers will also be able to utilise the voice functionality they know and love with music and Alexa, to now enjoy a superior podcast experience and uncover a brand-new selection of favourites.”

Amazon Music’s mobile and web apps will also include curated recommendations for listeners, plus trailers and popular podcast charts to see what’s trending.

Amazon Alexa and devices country manager ANZ, Kate Burleigh, added: “We know that Aussies love podcasts, and we’re really excited that customers in Australia can now listen to podcasts on Amazon Music.

“Additionally, podcast fans with Alexa enabled devices will be able to use the power of their voice to access them. From home-grown Aussie talent such as Hamish and Andy and Shameless, to US hit The Vaping Fix, it’s now easier than ever to be educated, entertained or inspired by voices from across Australia, and the world.”

Podcasts will be available across all tiers of Amazon Music in Australia from 1 July.
