AMI wins court order gagging Sydney Morning Herald

ami_longer_lasting_sexThe Sydney Morning Herald has been prevented by a judge from reporting a story about the controversial sexual dysfunction firm the Advanced Medical Institute.

The AMI has been in the headlines after having its “Longer Lasting Sex” ads banned in Australia and the UK.

According to an article in the weekend print edition of the SMH (which does not yet appear online), the AMI obtained an interim order late on Friday to prevent the SMH from reporting a story which the AMI claimed was confidential because it appeared to have been obtained from a former or current member of staff.

Although the SMH article gives no indication of the nature of the information it has been prevented from publishing, it said: “The court action follows a series of stories in Fairfax newspapers about AMI’s claims as to the success of its premature ejaculation treatments as well as its business dealings.”

The SMH said there would be a further hearing on Tuesday.

For legal reasons, commenting on this post has been switched off until after the hearing.
