AMPR takes Royal Melbourne Show PR account from Wrights

The Royal Melbourne Show has moved its public relations account from independent agency Wrights after more than a decade following a pitch.

The event has been held in Melbourne for the past 162 years.

Publicity for this year and next year’s events will now be handled by Melbourne-based PR firm AMPR.

The account remit includes media strategy, launch events, on-the-ground media management, plus influencer and ambassador management.

Organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, the event has been held in Melbourne for the past 162 years.

RASV CEO Paul Guerra said: “The AMPR team is highly experienced and we were impressed by their fresh ideas and thinking, which we believe will significantly contribute to maximising the appeal and success of the 2018 and 2019 Royal Melbourne Show.

“In particular, we look forward to working with the AMPR team to help us further grow consumer interest, awareness and understanding of the incredible value and unique experiences on offer at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show.”

AMPR managing director Sarah Gale added: “The Royal Melbourne Show is Victoria’s largest and most iconic annual community event and we are thrilled to be able to adopt a fresh approach to the communications campaign.”

The agency’s client portfolio includes David Jones, Melbourne Racing Club, Village Cinemas Australia, Chemist Warehouse Group, Forever New and Ted Baker.
