Andrew Denton returns with 578,000 viewers for Interview
Andrew Denton’s long awaited return to television finally arrived last night with 578,000 metro viewers tuning in to watch his new show, Seven’s Interview.
Denton’s first interviews were with Australian swimming champions Cate and Bronte Campbell as well as rock legend, Robert Plant, which helped the show lead the 9pm time slot.
Ahead of his return, Denton told journalists in a press briefing the show will not rely on the success of Enough Rope.
First up tonight on #InterviewAU it's @catecamp and @Bronte_Campbell fresh from Commonwealth Games victory. In this backstage pic, Andrew is just realising he may never be an Australian swimmer. pic.twitter.com/4tOf2n90vu

The show ran at the same time as Ten’s Hughesy We Have a Problem which pulled in 459,000 metro viewers, and Nine’s Date Night, which sat outside of the OzTam’s overnight preliminary ratings top 20.
In the earlier time slot, Seven’s My Kitchen Rules continued to build its audience, with a metro audience of 1.317m. The result put them ahead of Nine’s The Voice, which attracted 822,000 to the channel, and Ten’s Bachelor in Paradise, which managed a metro audience of 660,000.
Across the key advertising demographics – the 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s – My Kitchen Rules dominated in two out of three, while Ten’s Bachelor in Paradise appeased the younger audiences.
Also featuring in the top 20 last night were ABC’s Employable Me Australia, with 434,000 metro viewers ad SBS’ Who Do You Think You Are, with 430,000.
Seven News attracted more than 1m metro viewers last night, making it the most watched news program of the evening. Nine News’ audience for the 6pm bulletin was 940,000.
As the only channel with a share of more than 20% last night, Seven won the evening. Its 24.9% share beat commercial rivals Nine and Ten, which pulled in shares of 18.3% and 13.4%. ABC’s share was 10.6% and SBS’ was 6.1%.
Date Night deserves more viewers.
It’s warm and funny.

Depends on the format. On the ABC he was great. Each to their own. Parkinson, as an example, was hopeless, however Aunty saw him through…

Good show. By no means do I go out of my way to watch it. But each time I Chanel surf I tend to stick to the show. Random idea! Make just one of your ‘star’ guests a working class citizen.
